Westchester County Legislator George Oros (R, C/Cortlandt) is pleased to announce the Board of Legislators unanimously voted to approve funding to repair a bridge that goes over Peekskill Hollow Brook in the Continental Village section of Cortlandt.

Work on the bridge on Gallows Hill Road will include repairs to the concrete deck and steel structure, along with improvements to the railings, joints and roadway approach.

According to the county Department of Public Works, approximately 4,000 vehicles travel over the bridge daily. The bridge was built in 1939 and a recent inspection revealed it was in a deteriorating condition.

The cost of the repairs was approved by the board for $1,130,000.

“Any reasonable expenditure that improves safety for residents is money well spent and this repair should give motorists who travel Gallows Hill Road on a regular basis piece of mind for the next 20 years,” Oros said.
