White Plains, N.Y. – With the planning and development process already underway for two community improvement projects in the City of Peekskill, County Legislator George Oros (R—Cortlandt) is pleased to announce that additional funding has been approved to enhance and expedite their completion. Both the Annsville Trail Project and the Park Street Infrastructure Project will receive substantial increases to their original quotas based on recent approval from the County’s Board of Acquisition and Contract.
Legislator Oros especially looks forward to the completion of renovations being made to the Annsville Trail in Peekskill. He said, “This waterfront trailway offers beautiful views of the Hudson River. Because it’s such a nice and scenic place to walk, it was added to the County’s Riverwalk Trail, which connects many of the trail systems located in our area. As a segment of the Riverwalk pathway, parts of the trail are going to be upgraded and given new amenities. This is the culmination of the vision Governor Pataki and I had to share the majesty which is the Hudson River.”
The County will now increase the total funds for the Annsville Trail Project from $153,328 to $163,328, an addition of $10,000. Renovations should be completed by the end of this year.
More funding has also been made available for another project in his district, the Park Street Improvement Project at Tompkins Park in Peekskill. The amendment to this project will increase the funding from its original amount of $111,000 to $152,670.75, an increase of $41,669. It will be used for improvements to the existing infrastructure. Construction should be finished in June of 2006.
Throughout his tenure on the Board, Legislator Oros has overseen a number of improvement projects. In the past few years millions of dollars in Community Development Block Grants have been awarded to Cortlandt, Peekskill and Yorktown for things such as the improvements to Route 132, Tommy Thurber Park in Montrose and the restoration of Franklin Park in Peekskill.
“Much credit for the success in securing these funds goes to Mayor Testa and the fine team he has working at City Hall,” said Oros. “Without the city’s groundwork these grants would never materialize.”
