DAY LABORER DISCUSSION PART 2: Local advocacy groups to speak on behalf of day laborer population

WHAT: Follow up meeting to discuss a regional solution to managing day laborers

WHEN: Monday, February 27 at 4:30 pm

WHERE: 8th Floor Committee Meeting Room, Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains

WHY: As a follow up to its February 7th meeting with local officials that discussed the challenges of managing the day laborers and employers congregating in their communities, the County Board’s Generational, Cultural & Ethnic Diversity Committee has invited local advocacy groups to provide legislators the day laborer’s perspective. Local advocates have signed up to speak about the concerns and challenges confronting day laborers and will offer their thoughts on how the day laborer situation can be better managed.

At the previous meeting, local officials from several municipalities spoke about the challenges of dealing with day laborers in their communities. The leaders shared information and ideas about how to resolve the issue on a regional basis.

County Legislator Vito Pinto, Vice Chair of the Committee, will lead the discussion.
