‘Toys for Tots’ Drive Scheduled in New Rochelle

Westchester County Legislator James Maisano (R/New Rochelle) is pleased to sponsor a ‘Toys for Tots’ drive on Saturday, December 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at On The Waterfront Restaurant in New Rochelle.

During the 59 years of the United States Marine Corps Reserve ‘Toys for Tots’ program, Marines have distributed more than 370 million toys to more than 173 million needy children. This charitable endeavor has made the Marines the unchallenged leaders in reaching out to less fortunate children at Christmas.

“I am proud to be a Marine, and I am happy to be in a position where I can encourage others to get more involved in ‘Toys for Tots,’” Maisano said. “This wonderful program helps bring a bit of joy and delight to Westchester County children who, due to abuse, neglect, poverty or hospitalization, may feel left out or sad during the holiday season. Every kid deserves to feel special and this is one small way to make a difference.”

‘Toys for Tots’ accepts new, unused and UNWRAPPED toys or gifts for children ages 0-18, with teenage girls being the most overlooked group. Monetary donations to help ‘Toys for Tots’ volunteers to purchase specific items for children are also gladly accepted. Checks should be made payable to “Toys for Tots.” All donations are tax deductible.
