District 13 Lyndon Williams was first elected County Legislator for the 13th Legislative District in Mount Vernon in November 2007 and re-elected in 2009 by an overwhelming majority of Mount Vernon voters. In 2010, Mr. Williams was unanimously elected vice-chairman of the Westchester County Board of Legislators. Prior to becoming a County Legislator, Lyndon was a member of the Mount Vernon City Council having been elected for three four-year terms. Lyndon held major leadership positions in the City Council, chairing several major committees including the Finance and Planning Committee, Legislation and Public Works, and Public Safety and Codes. As a City Councilman, he championed major legislative initiatives in the areas of economic development, housing, crime prevention and recreation. His career in public service exemplifies strong smart leadership. He continues to play a central role in re-building Mount Vernon. Legislator Williams has had many major legislative accomplishments. However, one of his most gratifying undertakings is his work in 2009 and 2010 in creating employment opportunities, training, apprenticeship and mentoring for young men and women in the construction industry. Many of these young men have had prior criminal records and challenges with law enforcement but now seek an opportunity to turn their lives around and become productive citizens in the community. Williams is strongly committed to opening the doors to such opportunities. |
