County Legislator Martin Rogowsky (D, I, WF – Harrison) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) grant for the Village of Port Chester for the Senior Nutrition Transportation Program. The money will be used to purchase a bus that will accommodate sixteen ambulatory passengers and two using wheelchairs. The bus that is now in use has been in constant need of repair. The new bus will be used to transport food to seniors that are homebound and also transport seniors to and from the nutrition center for the Nutrition Program.
“I am pleased to have been able to secure these funds,” said Rogowsky. “We all know how vital good nutrition is to our health. The bus will help to ensure that Port Chester seniors can take advantage of this important Port Chester Nutrition Program.”
The annual CDBG funding plan is now in its thirty-first year and is a joint partnership involving the federal government, the county and the local villages, towns and city governments.
