IMPORTANT MEETING ON AIR TRAFFIC TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9 FROM 6:30-9:00 P.M.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 3, 2006
The “Airspace Redesign Project” for the New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia Metropolitan area, a program of the Federal Aviation Administration, will be holding a public meeting in Larchmont on Thursday, 2/9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Murray Avenue School on Murray Avenue. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on the proposed changes in the air traffic system for LaGuardia, JFK, Newark and Philadelphia Airports was released in December and is available for viewing at the Larchmont Library. Public meetings on the draft findings will be held throughout the tri-state area from now through April. These public meetings will take all comments on the DEIS into consideration prior to the development of the Final Environmental Impact Statement.
Given the district’s proximity to LaGuardia Airport and the Long Island Sound, the redesign could have an impact on the amount of noise generated in the skies over Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont and New Rochelle. Residents and elected officials are urged to attend this important public meeting.
