County Legislator Judy Myers (D,I,WF- Larchmont), Chair of the Family, Health and Human Services Committee, was unanimously appointed last night to the Board of Health during the Westchester County Board of Legislators’ first legislative meeting of the year. She will fill the seat previously held by former Legislator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, newly elected to the New York State Senate.
As the Chair of the Family, Health, and Human Services Committee, Legislator Myers has frequent interaction with the Department of Health and is involved in health related concerns, initiatives, and legislation, providing the experience that makes her uniquely qualified.
“I am honored and excited to be appointed to the Board of Health,” said Myers. “It is a great opportunity for me to incorporate the public health concerns and initiatives of the Committee on Family, Health, and Human Services with those of the Board of Health and the Department of Public Health.”
The 13 member Board of Health meets once a month to “adopt, promulgate, amend or repeal rules and regulations affecting public health in the County” according to the sanitary code of the Westchester County law.
