The Child Care Council of Westchester has 2 scholarship programs
to help you pay for child care or school age care.
REMINDER: The deadline for submitting an application is July 14, 2006
Who is eligible?
Both the Westchester County Child Care Scholarship and the Sally Ziegler Scholarship are for families who are over income for public subsidies but have difficulty paying for child care. The scholarships are for a year of full time child care or school age care. Scholarships will be paid in monthly installments directly to the program or provider.

2006 Sally Ziegler Scholarship Program
In 2006 there will be 17 Sally Ziegler scholarships awarded. Funding for these scholarships is from the United Way of Westchester/Putnam, Eileen Fisher, Inc and from individual contributors. Scholarships will be based on the income level of family and age of child in care.
Full time care for infants – preschoolers: $2,000/year
School age care: $1,200/year
2006 Westchester County Child Care Scholarship Program
Westchester County has funded a pilot scholarship fund administered by the Child Care Council of Westchester. Funding for the Westchester County Child Care Scholarship is not guaranteed for future years. The amount of the scholarships will vary based on family income, age of the children in care, type of child care used and the number of children in the family. The scholarship ranges are given below:
Center based care
Infants – preschool: $3,528- $5,000/year
School age: $3,103 - $3,650/year
Licensed Group Family Child Care
Infants – preschool: $3,315 - $4,250/year
School age: $2,606 - $3,066/year
Registered Family Child Care
Infants – preschool: $3,035 - $3,950
School age: $2,544 - $2,993
Registered School Age Program: $3,103 - $3,650
For each additional child in regulated care (maximum of 2), the base award will be increased by:

Families whose total gross household income falls within the ranges listed below are
eligible to apply for one of the child care scholarship programs.

If your gross household income falls below the minimum for the Westchester County Scholarship listed next to your family size, you are not eligible for a scholarship. Instead you should call (914)995-6521 to see if you are eligible for a public subsidy.
Scholarship awards will be announced the week of August 7, 2006.
Successful applicants and their respective child care programs/ providers will be notified in writing.
INFORMATION SESSIONS
The Child Care Council of Westchester will be holding info sessions about the scholarship programs in several locations throughout the County. It is not necessary to attend an info session in order to apply for a scholarship but child care professionals and parents may find it helpful. Please check sessions scheduled below. We will be firming up two dates in Yonkers and will send that info out shortly.
