County Legislator Lois T. Bronz (D, WF—Greenburgh) announced today the approval of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $50,000 for renovation of the White Plains Avenue Park in the Village of Elmsford.

“The current condition of the park limits its uses for the residents of Elmsford,” Bronz said. “We are pleased with the vote by the Board of Acquisitions and Contracts that makes this property the mini-sports complex it was designed to be.”

The approved project will include replacement of the existing tennis court pavement with new asphalt pavement, sports coat resurfacing, new posts and net, and the installation of new parking spaces for park patrons.

The grant was made through the Westchester Consolidated Plan of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) federal program recently threatened by the Bush administration. “This is but one of the hundreds of CDBG projects that have improved everyday life in our communities,” said Bronz. “Without this federal support, much of the physical and social infrastructure of our low to moderate income neighborhoods would suffer."
