County Legislator William Burton (D-I-WF, Ossining, Briarcliff, Croton, Cortlandt), Chair of the Public Safety and Security Committee, would like to inform the residents of his district of an information session being held by the Child Care Council of Westchester at the Ossining Public Library on Thursday, June 22nd, 2006 at 6:30 p.m.
The Child Care Council of Westchester will be discussing a new County funded child care program, the Westchester County Child Care Scholarship, to help families offset the cost of child care for their children. All questions about the scholarship, as well as the existing Salli Ziegler Scholarship, will be answered, and applications will be available. The deadline for all applications is July 14, 2006.
“I would like to congratulate Legislator Judy Myers, Chair of the Family, Health & Human Services Committee, and her fellow Committee members on their proactive effort to assist families who are ineligible for a public subsidy, but still find it difficult to afford quality child care in Westchester County,” said Burton. “This new Scholarship, facilitated by the Child Care Council of Westchester, will provide access to quality child care for many County children.”
Legislator Burton encourages all parents in need of child care to attend the information session. For scholarship applications and additional information, interested parties can contact the Child Care Council directly through their website at www.ChildCareWestchester.org or by phone (914) 761-3456. Information will also be available through regulated child care providers.
