Westchester Celebrates the Chinese New Year 4705
Chairman Bill Ryan Honors Westchester's Leading Chinese Organizations At Annual New Year Festivities and Wishes All
GONG XI FA CAI!
At a celebration of the Chinese New Year 4705, the Year of the Pig, (Boar) held on February 24 at White Plains High School, County Board Chair Bill Ryan presented County proclamations to five of Westchester's most active and influential Chinese organizations.
Mr. Ryan commended the organizations, which included the Organization for Chinese Americans (OCA) Westchester Hudson Valley, The Westchester Chinese Association(WCA), The Evergreen Association, The Families with Children from China (FCC) and The Huaxia Chinese Schools of New York, for their annual sponsorship of the New Year's festivities and for their year-round efforts to enhance a greater understanding of the Chinese culture countywide.
The Westchester Chinese Association then presented Bill with a plaque in appreciation for his continued support of this annual regional New Year celebration of Chinese heritage and culture.
A children's program began at 4 p.m. followed by dinner featuring cuisines from local restaurants, with performances and games scheduled from 7-9 p.m.
