Andrew Albanese Remembered by Legislators
The closing moments of the July 12 Board meeting were dedicated to the memory of Andrew Albanese, former County Legislator and Board Chairman who passed away on July 12, 2004. A resident of Eastchester, Mr. Albanese served as the Legislator for the 10th District for 28 years, but was dedicated to helping all residents of Westchester County.
The Legislators remembered Andrew Albanese fondly for his generosity in mentoring new members – regardless of political affiliation – and for helping anyone in need who came to him for assistance. He participated in momentous decisions -- including voting to build the airport terminal and the garbage-to-energy plant – that were instrumental in guiding the County’s growth into the 21st century. One of the meeting rooms in the Board’s Office Complex had previously been named in honor of Mr. Albanese. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues, his friends and by the many Westchester residents whose lives he touched over his long and distinguished tenure in public service.
