Westchester Residents Honored for Bravery
At its November 22 meeting, the Board of Legislators paid tribute to Joshua Rattner of Irvington and Yanni Papanicolaou of Pleasantville for their recent heroic – and life-saving – actions. The quick responses of the two men rescued the driver of a gasoline tank truck that had exploded and the driver of a car that was engulfed in flames.
Each man received a framed proclamation and the accolades of the Legislators, visitors and members of Briarcliff Fire Department who were in attendance. Richard Wishnie of Briarcliff Manor, Board Vice Chair and Chair of the Public Safety Committee, who presented the proclamations, stated “the actions of these two young men, which were without regard for personal safety, set a standard for service and concern for their fellow man. We are privileged to have Mr. Rattner and Mr. Papnicolaou as residents of our county.”
