BUDGET COMMITTEE TO VOTE ON GIVING WESTCHESTER RESIDENTS HELP DEALING WITH SOARING
HEATING OIL COSTS THIS WINTER
---Plan Would Provide One-Time $100 Grant
To Qualifying Consumers –--
What: The County Board’s Budget Committee will vote on implementing a proposed new county program to help Westchester residents with their home heating costs this winter. Only Committee approval is required to authorize the program.
When: Monday, November 28, 2005 at 9:00 AM
Where: Budget Committee Meeting Room, 8th floor, County Board of Legislators, 800 Michaelian Office Bldg., 148 Martine Ave., White Plains
Why: With heating bills expected to rise by 30-50 % this winter, the proposed initiative would give qualifying residents a one-time $100 grant to help defray the increase in winter heating costs. The projected $2.6 million increase in county sales tax revenue due to the spike in oil and gas prices would fund the program.
