Italian Heritage Month Proclaimed
At its October 25th meeting, the Board of Legislators celebrated the contributions of Italian Americans and honored 17 outstanding students and teachers of Italian from Westchester County high schools.
As part of the ceremonies, a proclamation declaring October Italian History and Heritage month was presented.
The event, co-sponsored with the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations, saw an outpouring of appreciation for and pride in the many ways in which Italian Americans have enriched life in the United States. Those attending the celebration included the students and teachers who were honored, parents, the education officer of the Consulate General of Italy, the President of the Società Dante Alighieri and members of the Antonio Meucci Lodge 213, Order Sons of Italy, located in White Plains.
