A Message From Bill Ryan, Chair of the Board of Legislators

Welcome to the official website of the Westchester County Board of Legislators. We are proud of our over 300 year tradition serving the people of Westchester County. Through all these years, one thing we have learned is that government functions best when citizens are fully engaged. Our hope is that by providing you with an easier-to-navigate website, you will take advantage of the opportunity to weigh in as frequently as time allows you on matters you care about.

On our website, you can find information on the functions and duties of the county board and an explanation of the mission of each of the board’s nine committees. All board and committee meetings are open to the public and you are encouraged to attend whenever possible. You will find a yearly schedule of full board meetings; our schedule of committee meetings is updated weekly.

I’d like to draw your attention to some other features on our site, such as:

• The History of the County Legislature dating back to pre-Revolutionary days;
  
  
• Background information on each Legislator and an email link to make it easy for you to communicate directly with your legislator;
  
  
• Maps of the Legislative Districts;
  
  
• Minutes from Committee meetings and committee membership; and
  
  
• Minutes from Board of Legislator meetings

You will also find a media page where you can look at current and past press releases on actions and votes of the board as well as an explanation of the policy discussion behind those actions. Our home page includes current news of interest that will be updated regularly.

We’ll be adding additional features and enhancements as time goes on but, in the meantime, if you have a suggestion on what would make our website even better, please contact us .

Please remember that you have a voice in what goes on in this county and there are seventeen legislators just an email or phone call away waiting to hear from you.

Hope you’ll become a regular visitor to our website. The doors to the 8th floor of the Michaelian Office Building, where the legislative branch of county government is located, are always open to you. Help us to serve you better by staying in touch with the issues and by sharing your thoughts, concerns and suggestions with us.
