Westchester County Legislator David Tubiolo (D-Yonkers, Mount Vernon) presented a $30,000 check to the Aisling Irish Cultural and Community Center yesterday afternoon. The funding will support the Center's community programs, including arts, music, language, dance, and its homebound meal delivery service for seniors.
Located on McLean Avenue (The Emerald Mile) in Yonkers, the Aisling Center serves as a hub for preserving and promoting Irish culture while providing a gathering space for the community. Beyond its cultural mission, the Center offers resources for mental health, employment, and housing assistance. The funding was made possible through the support of Tubiolo’s colleagues on the Board of Legislators who approved the allocation.
“The Aisling Center is an important part of our neighborhood's fabric—it's not just a building, it's an institution,” said Legislator Tubiolo. “I'm proud to help fund the many programs this organization offers, from meal deliveries to summer camps for children.”
Aisling Center Executive Director Sandra Feeney-Charles noted the organization's nearly 30-year history of community support. “Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to supporting seniors by creating a welcoming space that reduces isolation and promotes wellness,” she said. “With nearly half of seniors living alone, this investment in proven support is more vital than ever. We are grateful to Legislator Tubiolo and the entire Westchester County Board of Legislators for their continued backing of our mission.”
