White Plains, NY — In proclaiming October Italian Heritage and Culture Month in Westchester County, the Board of Legislators will celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations within the community at our next meeting.

This annual celebration will take place Monday, October 1, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Board Chambers, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains.

The Board will honor an organization and two distinguished community leaders, and will bestow special recognition on outstanding students and teachers of Italian language.

The honorees are:

  • The Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations, founded more than 25 years ago by Professor Carlo Sclafani to preserve, promote and celebrate Italian and Italian American history, culture and ideals
  • Geraldine Esposito, President, Le Amiche Lodge #2550 of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America; Trustee,  Italian Cultural Course of Westchester; Member, Yonkers Columbus Day Committee; Vice Chair, Yonkers Parks, Recreation & Conservation Board; Board Member, Untermyer Performing Arts Council
  • Matthew Manfredi, President & CEO, AAA Emergency Supply; Commissioner, North Castle South Fire District #1; Member, North Castle Housing Board; Assistant Chief, North White Plains Fire Department 1999-2001; Chief, North White Plains Fire Department 2002-2008; long-time volunteer coach and referee in area youth sports

We invite you to celebrate their outstanding contributions at our October 1 meeting, when the Board will present special proclamations in their honor and have the opportunity to hear them address the Board and guests.
