The Committee oversees the relevant Westchester County departments that conduct broad-scale and specific planning work and, in particular, that impact on fair and affordable housing. Through research, analysis, budgetary support, and legislation, the Committee encourages residential stability, assists in the management and prevention of homelessness, and safeguards homeowners and tenants from unfair practices. Committee meetings serve as opportunities to share ideas among levels of government, not-for-profit special interest groups, private industry, and the public. The Committee also works to:

• Improve public perception and municipal support for developing and sustaining a variety of housing for diverse constituencies;
• Promote business community involvement;
• Evaluate County involvement in fair housing issues; and support improvements in municipal operations to achieve fair taxation of property owners
