(PEEKSKILL, NY) Wednesday afternoon, during a press conference in Peekskill, several members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators announced their actions intended to stop the harmful impacts of the Spectra pipeline recently authorized by County Executive Rob Astorino.  The press conference was held at the home of Nancy Vann, a homeowner directly in the path of the pipeline.  Both the existing and the super-sized new pipelines run through several Northern Westchester communities and will have adverse effects on local property values and harmful impacts on the natural environment.  Members of the County Board of Legislators have introduced a resolution urging New York State to freeze any air and water quality permits. They will also be submitting a petition to the United States EPA appealing the decision to issue air permits for the pipeline’s compressor station.  

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) With bipartisan support, Legislator Catherine Borgia has secured $6,520,000 to fund repairs to Pleasantville Road, which runs through Briarcliff Manor, Mount Pleasant and Ossining.  The repairs will include milling, asphalt, resurfacing, catch basin repair, concrete curb replacement, bus bands, installation of new traffic islands and new pavement markings.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) The “Children’s Product Safety Act”, proposed by Majority Leader Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining) has passed the Board of Legislators unanimously and now awaits the signature or veto of the County Executive.  The Children’s Product Safety Act will prevent the sale of infant and children’s products that include harmful toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde, benzene, lead, mercury, antimony, arsenic, cadium and cobalt within the County of Westchester.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) In response to County Executive Rob Astorino’s 2015 State of the County Address, the Democrats on the Board of Legislators issued a taxpayer “report card” for County government’s past performance.  The Democratic response, given by Majority Leader Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining), laid out specific examples of how their actions have already benefited Westchester residents and articulated the failures of the Astorino administration on behalf of county taxpayers.
