Westchester County Board of Legislators and County Executive Pass Local Law to Mitigate Public Safety Issues Associated with Lithium-Ion Batteries

White Plains, NY — Today, the Board of Legislators joined with the County Executive to adopt a local law to stem the incidences of unnecessary fires and fire-related tragedies caused by the use of lithium-ion batteries. The law prohibits the sale, lease or rental of a wide variety of products, devices and equipment unless it utilizes a properly graded, factory-installed battery.

Ribbon Cutting for Newly Renovated Recreational Space at the Coachman

White Plains, NY — Today, the long anticipated revitalized play space at The Coachman, the County’s largest family shelter, was unveiled. With room for as many as 100 families, and close to 200 children living here, the need to upgrade the playground and basketball court has been apparent for some time. The collaboration was a labor of love involving County Legislators, the County Executive, the Department of Social Services, Westhab and the Coachman Family Center.

Westchester County Board of Legislators Receives 2024 Capital Budget

White Plains, NY — On Tuesday, October 17, the Board of Legislators formally received the 2024 Capital Budget for review and consideration from the County Executive, which includes investments in affordable housing, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, Bronx River Parkway Rehabilitation, bridges, roads, the Westchester County Center and flood mitigation.
